The most pervasive ideas in mental healthcare, the ones that most consistently influence how mental healthcare professionals think, behave and treat people, don’t come from scientific evidence and they don’t derive from any of the grand psychological theories, they are just a part of a consensus which has evolved around how mental healthcare should be done, what it looks and sounds like and the values that should be attached.
